ALL THE GOOD STUFF AND NONE OF THE GIMMICKS
Darbys was in a brand-new building, in a brand-new neighbourhood. Yet we wanted to create a place that felt like it had been there for years and will be for years to come. Our chef had a space for a bakery, a grill and a fully stocked bar. He had a menu that changes with the seasons and suppliers he knew on a first name basis. He wanted this place to have a buzz and a New York state of mind. A space with a big personality. We had to bring this altogether and curate a space that was a true tribute to his legendary father; Grand, Honest, Timeless and a little bit mischievous.
WHAT WE QUESTIONNED
We questioned how we could make a new space feel old? How could we inject charm? How could we pull people into a space that was in a neighbourhood not quite yet established? And to a part of London not known for anything? How could we create soul from scratch?
Darby’s; Good Honest Grandeur. We brought the space to life through a multi-dimensional visual language. We created a series of logos that seemed to have evolved through the ages and that we used them to define the various spaces in the restaurant. We also created a series of illustrations, videos to showcase how our ingredients are specially sourced and scanned hundreds old newspaper clippings featuring Darby to use across printed and digital collateral. We couldn’t have done it without our team of leading craftsmen, blacksmiths, neon artists and signwriters to create a space that is grand, transformative and embedded with mischievous Irish undertones. Darbys your new local, for a quick pastry, a special occasion or a weekday dinner.
“0120 captured what I had in my head beautifully, we couldn’t have done it without their support.”
